They charge the local dealers a fee. One
"preferred dealer" per franchise. The dealer even gets to put a car in the
warehouse for X weeks per year under some of these deals.
When the Walmart customer expresses interest in Brand X, he is referred to the
Brand X dealer for the special (nudge nudge wink wink) Walmart Insider Price.
Dealer of course rips the Walmarter's head off. He has to recover the fee paid
to the discount club, and the average rube who will shine up to this deal
"knows better" than to shop a Walmart price, right?
The boat sales gig will probably be exactly the same.

What's the matter, wal-mart turn down your application to be a preffered
dealer?

Better check out the program.
I'll lay odds that WalMart will not be the ultimate selling or servicing dealer
for Genmar boats.
Funny, I don't remember insulting you.

"Ethnically Jewish to a large extent..."
What the hell does that mean?
Even the fragment "Jews and Palestinians are like cousins" makes no sense.
Judaism is a religion, just like Roman Catholic is a religion. Are Roman
Catholics and Palestinians just like cousins?
There is no nationality of Palestinian, by the way. Even Arafat is not a
Palestinian. He was, I understand, born in Egypt and he maintains a posh
family residence in Paris where his wife lives.
> "Ethnically Jewish to a large extent..."
> What the hell does that mean?
Well, I think that means small beady eyes, balding, pot bellied, bow
legged spindly legs, particularly when holding up large redfish.

Skipper
If that is your wussie way of trying to insult me, you're a tad off on
my ethnic background and physical description, feces-for-brains,
although I certainly am balding.
My guess is there is less here that meets the eye. Wal-Mart is not
getting into the bigtime retail boat business per se. I expect the
marketing agreement involves Genmar's dealers in a locale setting up
mini boat shows or putting a couple of boats on display at Wal-Mart
stores, with some joint advertising and promotional efforts. "Sam's"
stores in Jax did this fairly frequently about five years ago and may
still do it.
Wal-Marts are high traffic stores, and the exposure might help sell a
few boats. I don't see Wal-Mart becoming the dealer of record for boat
sales.
I'm sure a plethora of rec.boaters will be gleeful about this, because
they'll think they'll be able to buy their boats from Wal-Mart instead
of those "awful" dealers. But they'll still be buying from dealers.
Wal-Mart doesn't want the headaches of the boat business or the hassles
of dealing with boat-buying customers.
There are lots easier ways to make money than being a boat dealer.
Now I can't recall where I found the summary - I was looking for
something else. There was more detail available, but the site charged
to download entire article. I was too cheap to spend $1 to read the
details about this deal between Wal-Mart and Irwin Jacobs. If I am
going to download porn - I want pictures. :-)

By definition, I would guess, a messianic Jew is not Jewish, nor is one
of those "Jews for Jesus" converts. Though in Karl Denninger and Dave
Mann's (Skipper) Germany of the 1930s and 1940s, it wouldn't have
mattered, since the Nazis, for the most part, did not recognize the
validity of converts from Judaism, and these folks were gassed along
with the rest of the "unreconstructed" Jews.
Jews recognize as Jewish someone whose mother was Jewish. This is
because in times gone by, heathens, Christians and Moslems would pass
through Jewish villages and rape the women. The resulting children were
considered Jewish by the townspeople so they would be accepted within
their closed societies. At least that is my understanding from what I
have read on the subject.
If you are Agnostic, you are not Jewish, no matter what your bloodline.
Judaism is a religion, not a race or nationality.
Except, of course, in places like Nazi Germany or the Arabic states.

Genmar to Market World's Largest Retail Boat Sale; Partnership With
Wal-Mart Promotes Pleasures of Boating
MINNEAPOLIS, April 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Following six months of extensive
planning and development, Genmar Holdings, Inc. (Genmar) announced today
that it is rolling out an exclusive co-marketing partnership with
Wal-Mart to promote all Genmar boat products throughout the United
States and Canada in what is believed to be the largest boat sale
promotion in the history of the marine industry.
During the month of May (May 1 through June 2, 2002) Boat Sale USA(TM)
and Boat Sale Canada(TM) will offer consumers money-saving incentives on
14 of America's leading brands of fiberglass, aluminum and polyethylene
boats through the Web sites http://www.boatsaleusa.com and
http://www.boatsalecanada.com . Wal-Mart shopping cards, valued between
$300 and $1,000 (US) and up to $1,500 in Canada, will also be issued to
qualifying purchasers of Genmar boats during the month-long event. Boat
Sale USA(TM) and Boat Sale Canada(TM) will be promoted throughout all
Wal-Mart stores and Supercenters in the U.S. and Canada. Genmar brands
included in the promotion are Aquasport, Crestliner, Four Winns,
Glastron, Hydra-Sports, Larson, Lowe, Lund, Ranger, Seaswirl, Stratos,
Triumph and Wellcraft. The promotion includes more than 500 models in
sizes ranging from 16-to-47 feet.
Genmar will support the promotion with national print and electronic
advertising, including Internet advertising on America's top boating
portals. Point-of-sale advertising will also be displayed at each
participating Genmar dealer location. Wal-Mart will add in-store signage
and, subject to parking lot space availability, Wal-Mart will allow
Genmar dealers to use store parking lots for boat sales as part of the
collaborative marketing effort.
``I believe there is no greater evidence of Genmar's commitment in
introducing the pleasures of boating to consumers throughout the United
States and Canada than these Boat Sale USA(TM) and Boat Sale Canada(TM)
promotions,'' said Genmar Chairman Irwin L. Jacobs. ``With Wal-Mart's
approximately 100 million customers per week, and their over one million
associates, I believe Genmar dealers will set a historical record during
the month of May 2002 for the most boats sold in a single month -- and
that includes the annual January, February and March boat-show season.''
``Wal-Mart is delighted to be working with Genmar, the industry leader
in the most popular boating segments,'' said Bob Connolly, executive
vice president, marketing and consumer communications for Wal-Mart
Stores. ``Teaming with Genmar to offer this added value program in the
United States and Canada is an all-new way of extending the Wal-Mart
tradition of providing extraordinary products and pricing advantages to
our approximately 100 million weekly Wal-Mart shoppers.''
Genmar, with approximately 6,000 employees and 12 manufacturing centers
in the United States and Canada, is the world's largest builder of
recreational boats and the industry's technological leader. Genmar boat
brands include Aquasport, Carver, Champion, Crestliner, Four Winns,
Glastron, Hydra-Sports, Javelin, Larson, Lowe, Lund, Ranger, Seaswirl,
Stratos, Triumph, Trojan and Wellcraft.
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE: WMT - news) operates more than 2,740
discount stores, Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets, and more than
500 SAM'S CLUBS in the United States. Last year, Wal-Mart associates
raised and contributed $196 million to support communities and local
non-profit organizations.

We're probably splitting definition hairs here. One can certainly be
ethnically Jewish or Roman Catholic without being a believer in the
faith, because there are many ways to be Jewish or Catholic culturally.
But I don't think one can be 62.5 per cent Jewish or Roman Catholic by
faith, because you either are...or you ain't.

Too bad you, who claims to be a jew, doesn't behave like one.
Weren't the 10 commandments written for you jews?
Naw, judaism for you is *NOT* a religion at all. Just a pause in usenet
for a few minutes tells your sad tale.

Not sure. He's covering those small beady eyes with shades. However, the
rest looks like a match.

I don't recall claiming to be Jewish.

"Us" Jews? Now isn't *that* an interesting comment.

So, Charlie, still praying to that stoned god of yours?
>There are lots easier ways to make money than being a boat dealer.
I quite often get people asking me if I'm concerned some big chain, or
the internet, is going to come in and drive me out of business. I
always have to laugh it off and say no, I'm not concerned. There are
many other ways to make a buck easier than being a marine retailer.
There is no way these people are going to put in the hours, or take
the risk, for the few bucks available.

I should follow your example? Will I have to have a ritual circumcision?

It's a sad commentary about yourself that you express the need of an
example in order to live the 10 commandments like a true jew.

Typo corrected, sir master Skippy. When are you going to post a picture of
your non-existant boat for us?

Well, come to think of it - I think it was on a page that I got to
from Yahoo. "Premium document search results" if I am recalling
correctly. I did spend a few minutes looking in Dow Jones as I
subscribe there - didn't find anything. Genmar is not a publicly held
company so DJ/WSJ doesn't always have a lot. Like I said - too cheap
to opay a buck for it and I haven't spent much more than five minutes
total typing in this thread. Didn't get to the point of looking at
WMT.
