His point was that they never question what the guest says. They're
invited to spout their canned answer and seldom, if ever, are
questions followed up or questioned.
The host isn't as much an interviewer as sound bite traffic cop.

I like listening to the BBC. Sometimes they really go after someone they're
interviewing, just not letting them off the hook. I've heard interviewers
say things like, "You didn't answer the question," and then they would ask
it again.
