Here are some of the main ones:
West Marine - 800-538-0775. Probably the largest catalog. Contains
tips from "The West Advisor," giving information on topics from
selecting an anchor to correct electrical wire sizes. West also has
retail stores nationwide and an 800 number for product information. I
carry an extra copy of this catalog on my boat for reference.
BOAT/U.S. - 800-937-2628. Kind of a cross between an AAA and
Montgomers Wards for boaters, BOAT/U.S. has a catalog and a chain of
retail stores, also sells insurance, does loans, lobbies on behalf of
boatersm etc., etc. I believe you need to be a member to order, which
costs under $20 per year. One great feature is a special order
department which can get you anything that's not in the catalog at
discount prices.
Defender - 800-435-7180 for catalog. This New York store has very low
prices, but I've also seen complaints about being out of stock (which
was not the case the only time I ordered from them). Their catalog
also lists phone numbers for most of the product manufacturers (and
suggests you call them directly for product info).
Overton's - 800-334-6541. This North Carolina chain concentrates on
supplies for small powerboats and water sports. Catalog has the best
section of bathing suit pictures.
Outer Banks 800-682-2225. Similar to Overton's in location and
emphasis, but leans more toward sportfishing than water sports.
