My good friend Ken Alcorn passed away yesterday 11/7/2009.

I am mourning his loss. I wish nothing more right now than that I
could bring him a cold frosty beer and sit with him in front of a
roaring warm campfire.

Many good memories.

Sorry to hear that, John.

It doesn't matter that you are at a loss for words.
What you did say makes it very obvious that you had a good friendship.
Enjoy the good memories of the times you had together!

I just found out today Ken's funeral will be this Thursday, and I am
so glad the entire thing fits into my very busy nursing school
schedule. I'll have to change from my scrubs to my suit then drive to
the funeral home. But then it just occurred to me that as I'll have to
drive back to the hospital after and get my patient's info for my
clinical day on Friday, and I won't really have to change back into my
scrubs, because I think a suit will be appropriate. Maybe I'll chuck
the suit jacket and wear my lab coat over it and I'll look very much
like an MD!

And as for my "loss for words", I don't have enough time or server
space to write all I'd like to write in memorandum for my good friend
Kenny. He will always have a place at my campfire.

That sucks. I've buried a few two many people in the last few years.

Good memories help, though.

Thanks for all your well wishes.

I helped bury my good friend Ken Alcorn today. It was a beautiful day,
sunny and unseasonably warm for mid November. I saw many of my "family
of choice" as well, and it was good seeing everyone again. A terrible
thing we had to come together for the sad event, but that's what
families do.

I broke down and cried when they blew "Taps" for my good friend. Ken
served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1968 I learned today. And there's
nothing more heart-wrenching sad to me than a military funeral.

Goodbye Kenny! I love you man! And like I said before, you will always
