I'm looking into building a stitch and tape plywood kayak and am looking
for sources of supply of marine grade plywood in the San Francisco bay
area. Does anyone know of any sources in the area. Has anyone ever
mail ordered plywood before? Any comments would be appreciated.

You don't say where in the BA you are, but I've ordered some through
White Lumber in Berkeley before. You might want to check some
boatyards to see if they stock it (Svendson's in Alameda comes to
mind).

I've also heard of folks using exterior plywood successfully on larger
(row boat) sized boats -- just be sure to fill any voids along the cut
line with epoxy putty.

Good Luck!

From a post from about a month ago, I learned that PALS Lumber in
Emeryville sells marine plywood. I haven't tried them however so I don't
know what they have.

Try Steve Najjar in Palo Alto. He's a professional woodenboat builder
who also carries Marine Grade Plywood for sale. His shop number is
415-323-3887. Good Luck

You might just try ordering plywood from The Wooden Boat Shop in Seattle.
They'll charge for shipping but the prices are probably the best in the
US. 800-933-3600 (I think)

Good Luck
