Around here, the big "offenders" seem to be Bluejays, Grackles,
Cowbirds, and Sparrows, not necessarily in that order.
Add humans, squirrels and raccoons from the mamalia.
The biggest cause of songbird decline in the UK is habitat
destruction. Maybe they ought to cull some real estate developers
And modern farming practices aren't helping, either. The old field
hedgerows are disappearing fast, and with them go the birds that breed
there.
Magpies are impressive birds. People who think getting divebombed by
a Mockingbird is bad ought to experience a strafing run by an angry
Magpie.

Yes, indeed. Florida has been largely ruined by development. The
only good thing about the collapse of the credit market is that greedy
developers can't fund their schemes to convert the rest of the state
to malls, housing developments and golf courses. Orlando's
development around the Empire of the Rat is simply appalling, a
hideous, Dantesque sprawl.
Florida Scrub Jays face a grim future. The oak scrubland they depend
on is now so fragmented the birds can't find suitable habitat close to
them. Scrub Jays are extremely reluctant to move very far to new
territories.

As with many other areas, there are too many people with too much money
who think that environment is the temperature in the local shopping mall.
We visited Raton Mickey with the kids in the late 1970s. It was fun, and
I don't want to offend anyone, but Florida isn't on my list of places
that I want to visit again.
