Saw a common loon in the Westport Marina - diving for fish, all decked out in breeding colors. No females about - this guy might have spent the winter further south, and is slowly making his way north for the summer. Lots of pelicans, cormorants and gulls but not much else to report except the half price drinks and pupus at the Half Moon Bay Bar and Grill.
We got White crowned sparrows at last! The violet-green swallows have checked out the nest boxes in the back yard, but we don't know if they will buy. Sometimes the chickadees beat them to it, but not this year.
American Goldfinchs on the nyger feeder - the sun is shining - life is good.

On the 12th I was over at Tokeland, Washington at high tide, and there
were about 8 or so loons, some of them in full colors, diving in the
waters. One was only about three feet from the fishing platform at the
marina.
It was hard to get photos of them as they were spending 2 minutes or so
at a time under water. I did get one or two that turned out, and I hope
to have them posted in a web accessible location soon.
