I certainly don't have any issue with deer hunters,
because in the Midwest it's necessary for keeping the
deer population at a reasonable level. I've hunted
grouse and pheasants, but I'm tender hearted and I could
never shoot a Bambi. My brother in law in Wisconsin has
had his deer processed into sausage, and it's good!
Here in the burbs the deer are fairly safe, except for
drivers who don't realize that they should always be on
the lookout for deer on freeways and other roads.

I might add to your comments never try to avoid deer on the road. It is
much better to hit the deer that swerve and end up in the ditch or in
face to face with an on-coming car/truck

Maybe, maybe not. Several years ago a woman hit a deer on a 45 mph road
in a heavily populated local suburb. The deer went through the windshield
and the woman was killed. OTOH, semi truck drivers don't avoid deer and
I94 through Wisconsin is a deer slaughter field. When we're out and about
I won't drive on I94 at dusk when the deer are active.
I guess I would suggest that drivers be very careful when driving on any
road where deer might be present, especially early morning or late afternoon.

BTW: Has winter arrived in NoDak?

My son is an owner/operator of several semi's and he has had several run
ins with Deer--it is a lot cheaper to replace a bumper and tire than the
truck. It is still in the 50's here, maybe we are making up for October.:)

Agreed - a co-worker swerved to miss a squirrel and is still in therapy 3
months later.

Neither, please. But if you can't resist going birding during firearms
deer season, wear orange and be extra careful. Here in Missouri, state
parks are safe (no hunting), but some conservation areas are hunted
heavily.

I'm not a hunter, though I have no problems with it. And hope every one out
there wears blaze orange who is near the woods during hunting season.

As for the stories - both are rather funny in a macabre way.
