The male bluebird was back at the suet feeder this morning... with his mate!
She sat on top of the shepherd's hook while he ate, then they switched
places. So maybe this means the bluebirds are returning! They left the
suet and flew down to sample the seed I'd scattered on the patio. About
that time a couple of house finches showed up and also a female cardinal. I
know the cardinals nest in the camelia bush at the back corner of my house.
In the spring they bring their fledglings to my patio - here's where the
food is, kids! ;) Also featured was a pair of tufted titmice. I wish the
pine warbler would come back. They're sort of cheeky :)
I was at the gas station the other day and spotted a lone mourning dove
waddling around near the street on the property next to it. It's a palmetto
tree farm. I know for a fact there's a colony of feral cats living there.
Oh no, dear dove! Come to my house! My cat stays inside. There's lots of
food and places to nest. Bring your friends!
