I was at the store the other day, and I saw packages of bones, cut in
lengths about as big as their diameter. 1.5 to 2 inches. Would that make
decent suet? How about just putting the bones out there and letting them
peck the marrow out? Anyone done this? I would imagine one could get a
bunch of bones for a low price or free. I forget the price on those, but
they weren't a lot.

It should work very well. Marrow is very similar to suet. Give it try. :)

I've done it and they like it. When the marrow is gone, pack the bones
with peanut butter and replace. Or Martha's recipe bird ball mix.
