BS
I asked Jute for USA riding experience supporing his continuous efforts on telling us what to do wear say and ride. My understanding is Jute is a Euro/Irishman. Jute's response is typically ugly, boorish and way off the subject Jute introduced. As Jute writes an essay telling us we should eat shit.... more »

We should ban bottled water and legalize marijuana
Only a handful of states in the Union have a deposit law, so the rest has a problem with littering. My community and many other communities are full of shit and nobody has a solution. Oh, they clean once a week, but the bottles don't disappear. There's no recycling program where I live --not that it makes much of a difference. The... more »

The 10 commandments
What commandments/rules would you offer to a novice who's just bought a bike, to help them survive biking, particularly in the (sub)urban roads landscape? E.g. 1/ Thou shalt obey the road rules. 2/ Thou shalt ride as far left/right as practicable does not mean on the edge, but more like 0.5 to 1m from it, probably in the left [right for... more »

campagnolo freehub bearing change
wondering if anyone has done a bearing change in a Campagnolo Freehub, the outer bearing is easy to get at but the inner one is behind a snapping/circlip. Do you need this retainer? I have got it out, but it isn't reusable... Thanks Martin

Campagnolo Centaur Left Shifting lever problem
Hi, Centaur 2012 so almost new... It works but it is so loose that even on smallest bump lever hits brake lever which cause annoying noise of course. [There is no such a problem with right lever BTW.] Any suggestion how to fix? --lm

Effect of lane position in a blind left turn
Just trying to introduce a bit of tech into the discussion. Consider a worst-case scenario roadway; a dense forest immediately adjacent to the edge of the road so sightlines are blocked in curves. Let w = width of each lane R = radius of turn (at centerline of road) d = distance of driver from centerline of road... more »

Best Repair Book
So, the kid is going off to college, and he's taking two bikes (road/ 29er), and I'm ashamed to say that he is not mechanically gifted and that I never taught him much about bike repair. I just quietly performed my duties as fleet mechanic. My only excuse is that he did not get really manic about riding until just recently.... more »
