Dear SJM,

Would a big decal, trimmed to fit the area, work?

This works great for me:

You probably have extras in a binder right now.

Removable Avery paper label in whatever size you choose.
Just change regularly as it gets a bit scruffy.

If you want to be really cheap you can buy a can of positioning spray
adhesive (mounts photos in an album) and just spray it on the back of a
sheet of paper that is cut to the size you want. Turn it over and stick
it where you need it.

I don't have a laptop, but for my PC mouse (which is also optical)I just
print a picture on a heavyweight piece of paper and tape it to the
table.

When it wears out, I print something else on the other side of th sheet
or on another piece.
