I need some suggestions/experiences on a good bike paint shop to
repaint my '80 Masi Grand Crit...I would like to have it in it's
orginal blue with the orginal decals. Also, I need to add some
braze-ons and redo the rear wheel spacing for the new 9/10 rear
clusters.
thanks in advance...

Check out CyclArt in Vista, CA (760) 599-1015. Jim Cunningham is
internationally know for his paint work. He either has the decals in stock
or he can reproduce them. In fact, he does paint work for several
manufacturers and some racing teams. I've seen several Masi Gran Criteriums
that he has painted. They were beautiful. Charles O'Toole

Jim Cunningham @ Cyclart can handle all of that for you.

The best place for that is CycleArt. However, I have been unable to get
a working URL for some time and wonder if they've closed shop.

I had my Masi Prestige painted by Fresh Frame in Ephrata, Pennsylvania.
They restored it to perfect condition, including decals, and I was (and
continue to be) very happy with their work. You might consider them if
CycleArt doesn't work out. Look for them at freshframe.com

The best guy would be Brian Baylis in Lemon Grove, CA. He painted Masis
originally.

There are several places to have your MASI painted.

Certainly CyclArt is one of them, you can Email them at cycla...@aol.com
Note that it is CyclArt, not CycleArt. CyclArt handles resorations of bikes of
all ages and is good for rare and older bikes. Jim has a large collection of
parts for older stuff.

Brian Bayliss as someone noted is certainly another option, he certain has the
reputation as one of the best painters in the country. Brian is also builds
beautiful custom frames in the classic lugged steel tradition. With Brian you
get a one man operation, no one else is going to touch your bike but Brian.
Check out the web page at: http://www.cyclesdeoro.com/Baylis_main.htm

The other shop that can handle your painting is JB, ie Joe Bell. His number is
619-469-4312 Joe is closely associated with Bill Holland custom bicycles and
provides the paint for many of the top custom builders as well as custom paint
jobs and factory original paint jobs. Joe has done some fantastic jobs on some
of Holland's Ti bikes, probably the only paint on a Ti frame I have seen that
is an improvement over the polished metal. Richard Sachs' bikes are also all
painted by Joe Bell.

Each one of these shops can handle you job nicely, providing the authentic
decals and a top notch paint job.
