Don't know what happened today, but in general a domestique is going to have
a lot more opportunities if he's not a GC contender. Nobody's going to mark
him. Plus it gives his bro some breathing room; he doesn't have to worry
about who's the boss in this GC if he has a not-so-great day and Andy goes
up ahead of him in the GC.

You may be right but wouldn't and isn't the better strategy to leave
them guessing what the plan really is?

Who's going to cover an Andy attack now? He could have used his
position to wear out his brother's rivals.

Yes and a true champion like Hinault or Merckx would never have let
that happen.
