news reports differ. Some say 3 minutes down. Maybe he switched bikes
with a team mate.
Either way, looks like Kloden is now RatShack team leader.
LeTour.com shows Horner finishing dead last, 12:41 back, in a group of six
with no RadioShack teammates.
That was fairly evident to almost everybody right along. Klodi's been
comfortably nestled in the front of the pack in every stage. The key
to the first week of the Tour is staying out of trouble and not losing
time. The rest of the Radioshack crew didn't take that message to
heart.

Kind of strange to watch Johan's pre-stage talk after the events of
today's stage:

"Chris Horner takes the lead from his RadioShack team leader Levi
Leipheimer in the final kilometres"
How do you lose 9 minutes in a few k?
if he had switched bikes, the chip timing would have recorded the
bike, not the rider. Pending review, I would not be surprized to see
his time changed by tomorrow.
I didn't see the crash, but from what Johan is saying it's pretty bad
for Horner.

Horner lost consciousness and didn't know where he was - and was still
asking where he was well after the fact. Oh boy.

Predictions made after facts to the contrary are made public come
across as a little weird. There will be no change in Horner's time,
and the only question is whether he will continue.
Horner was knocked out. Did you see the picture of him crossing the
line? His face was messed up, not horribly, (and not as bad as Zac in
the Harrisonburg Tour de Burg this year -

), but it looked like he got run over more than face planted.

I guess the same thing that happened to your fantasy that moving
overseas would make you a more likeable and/or happy fellow. It
died. :)~
BTW, Aunt-on, I only hoped Horner would push AC in the mountains and
make him feel some pain. Now, I just hope Horner is alright.
My new fantasy is to have Levi, Horner and Popo recuperate enough for
the high mountains, and, since this is my fantasy, become super-
domestiques and make AC blow up. As far as who wins the Tour, I'd
like to see somebody 'new'.
R
I'll assume you didn't see the later coverage, or the video now
circulating, showing Chris as he was being prepared to take the
ambulance to the hospital. If you did, and still said that, I'd rather
not know.

There was a brief shot of Horner right after the crash, it looks like he did a
face plant into the ditch at the side of the road which would account for the
broken nose and the concussion. He was 'lucky' to land on/in a relatively soft
surface...not sure he should have continued really although I know it's hard for
those involved to make a snap judgement.

Hey, what can I say? I picked Valverde to win a few years ago.
Why are you surprised by Anton's comments? He's proven himself to be
an ass so frequently that nothing he says should surprise anymore.
