Choices are:
Novitsky ...
1) drops the investigation
2) tries to pursue it, but is stopped by politicians or other powerful
interests before getting an indictment
3) gets an indictment but jury refuses to convict
4) jury convicts on only the least serious charge
I don't see how Armstrong is going to do jail time.
from the times article:
With Bonds Done, Should Armstrong Be NExt:
"... If French authorities have a problem with him, fine, they're
welcome to go after him. But for federal investigators to spend time
and money chasing after Armstrong for things that allegedly happened
years ago in France seems like a colossal waste of resources.
"A Georgia congressman certainly thinks so. Rep. Jack Kingston slammed
the Food and Drug Administration last month for spending "millions"
investigating Armstrong and suggesting the agency was on a "one man
tear" against the celebrity cyclist.
...
"Chasing Armstrong and the ghosts of the past just seems like
overkill. "
I'm guessing that if they proceed and fail to get a conviction,
Novitsky loses his job.

Remember the Cooking Lady, Martha Stewart (?)
Remember the Mayor of Chicago?
The charges against them didn't stick either.
BUT they nailed them on lying to the investigators.
By the way, don't bet with http://fulltiltpoker.com/ or any of several
similar Leisure and/or Sports bookmakers.
Just take a look and see what happened to them.

He's an investigator. The blame would probably be placed on the lawyers
prosecuting the case.
But along your point, I'd like to know why Notitzky left the IRS for the FDA
and not the DEA.

ps- Minor point, but it's an AP article, not a New York Times article.

As an indication of the level of this investigation, they have
received from French authorities the frozen 1999 samples, which were
turned over by the athletes on the condition that they only be used
for research, and used by the laboratory under the condition of total
anonymity.
This is why you need a jury system, because even if it is approved by
a judge, the jury can decide that common sense dictates that it was an
incorrect decision.

As I pointed out in 2005 when that L'Equipe article was written, the way the
AFLD results for the 1999 samples were displayed de-anonymized the results
and would have been useless for the research purpose they claimed.
Since you are using a pseudonym to make yourself anonymous, your
expression "As I pointed out in 2005" has no value, especially if you
were using another pseudonym at the time.

Did they depose LANCE?
If they did, I'll bet he just invoked his Fifth Amendment Rights. He was
lawyered up the whole time.

He edited the wikipeadia entry.
It's OK - the AFLD has an index that de-anonymizes
everyone in RBR.

Whoops. Sorry, I completely forgot I was posting pseudonymously. And you're
right: back in 2005 I think I was posting under the pseudonym "Heather
Halvorson."

That pseudonym is almost as ridiculous as "Ilan Vardi."

Final proof that h**2 is much hotter than Heather Halvorson.
