I am a little surprised that there was so little discussion of TD, the
rider that RBR seems to love to hate. He turned in a very respectable
and consistent performance.

Yeah he's had a really good race, guaranteed 9nth place in what's been a pretty
tough Tour, of course he's disappointed those who were wishing for an American
win but that era is over. On a side note I hope the 'arms race' with the Giro is
over too otherwise the riders will be facing 21 days of cycling exclusively up
25% grades all day, one day (that'll solve the Cavendish problem no doubt).

Well, that's why.

Also, I have to say that as much as I tip the hat to any pro, and
understand that finishing high on GC is an enormous achievement,
nobody really gives a shit about top-10 GC placings.

OK, maybe if the rider is white-jersey-eligible,

It does help with contract negotiations.

He's had a good race, and three top-10 finishes in grand tours is
nothing to sneeze at.

I've never hated TD. I hate his fans. He's got the world's dumbest
fans.

Yes. Points matter to teams.
