Good article, wasn't aware of "plasticizers", I guess they're not
banned so Contador's press lackeys forgot to discuss them but that
adds fuel to the transfusion gone wrong theory.

Also that Clenbuterol is not used in Europe, looks like someone forgot
to inform them of that.

Clen is not *allowed* in Europe, that doesn't mean that nobody uses it.

Thanks, finally got around to reading it, didn't know about the test for
"plasticizers" which looks pretty darned incriminating. Trouble is, it
just kind of drops it on the doorstep without much explanation, saying
that Contador's level was 10 times the "higher value" without saying
what that means. Would these same type of bags be used for IV
rehydration, which presumably is not banned?

Pretty much everybody has plastics in their bodies. Teflon, being a
name brand, for one. Next, the defense chemists will figure out
plausible explanations why AC is plastic-lined. Probably along the
lines of he doesn't first take the clear wrappers off his lollypops.

Good catch on that.
Which raises the question of what was behind the push for disallowing
all "needles"-- if it wasn't a naive "let's make it 'natural', or less
unnatural, as seen with old Pound quotes, was there an understanding
that allowing IV rehydration would make it more difficult to show
blood bag use?

The real story is AC's insult to the French cattle industry. If he's
allowed to participate next year, expect him to be dodging a shower of
entrecotes from outraged cattlemen. He should have just blamed the
positive on contaminated birdseed.

yikes, a little disturbing that plastic residue can get into the
bloodstream from a transfusion?

Plastic gets into your from everything plastic. One of the worst is
styrofoam cups. There is no such thing as a 100% complete
polymerization, so there are also the usually more problematic
monomers floating around in you.
