Hi Bruce.
Marco.
You're referring to our Solvang Century adventure I suppose:

She's pretty capable of taking care of herself. I think most of the
celebrity riders go slow for the first hour or so of those Grand
Fondos, and then they alternate between hanging at a rest stop and
visiting with the lemmings... er, riders.... or going fast enough so
that only competent people can keep up. Anyway, sadly she and that
gypsy Aaron O. have moved to Portland. Quite a loss for our little
community here in SB.
Wow, didn't know that, but how do you live in Santa Barbara on what HTC pays
her to race? You can't. I'm assuming Olsen is footing most of the bills, but
if he's not rolling in doe, the good life in SB will dry up sooner of later.
I am betting moving to Portland was based on lean times, unless he's got a
rich uncle or a great day job.
> rolling in doe,
Wow.
"Bet you could fit a whole lot of Pomeranians in that there..."
"He is planning to stop over and take a look on his way home.
So he can fall down laughing in person?"

They are smart and resourceful people and will get by just fine where
ever they land. The active bike-racing chapter of their lives is
probably ending, but no doubt they'll find success and happiness in
their next adventure whatever it is. Should they decide to do so, I'm
sure a decent living could be made from their vast experience in the
bike-racing world. Coaching, rep'ing, DS'ing, whatever.
I agree, but perhaps better money to be made elsewhere then cycling. However
with the astronomical cost of living, SB is one of the highest in the
country if not the world. We all know starting from scratch in SB, buying a
house or condo is way, way off the scale of the middle class. It's no shame
to leave SB because you can't afford to live there. Heck, even the Police
and Fire Department people have to drive in because they can't afford to
live them, and they are basically middle class. Santa Barbara seems more
like the place to live for the highest paid cyclists, movie stars, and the
like, which it is, although some people are grand-fathered in who made much
less. I don't know why they left, just that possibly it was too expensive.
