So how many people could stay awake reading the entire thing?
It's pretty easy to spot the parts that will some here drool on the
floor... the sections where Lance categorically denies not only having
not tested positive, but also not have ever used performance-enhancing
drugs. There are a bunch of quotes I could see people lining up to
inscribe on the cross they want to hang the guy on.
The interesting thing I take away from it is a feeling that Lance is a
much sharper tool than I thought. If he's guilty, he's done an amazing
job of dodging the bullets so far, with fairly plausible reasons for
just about everything.
Regarding the "I don't recall" stuff, having been through the deposition
thing myself, it didn't seem out of the ordinary. There's a definite
feeling they're trying to trap you, and even when the truth is on your
side, there are some areas that just don't feel comfortable. My
situation was part of an anti-trust hearing in which I wasn't one of the
two players involved, just someone affected by the goings-on between two
companies and dumb enough to have posted something on-line about it. One
side was clearly trying to discredit me by requiring a level of detail
regarding past conversations that no reasonable person would be able to
recall on the fly. Things that, to an outside observer (with hindsight)
seem like conversations and situations that you couldn't possibly not
remember... those things may seem important enough in a later context
that of course you'd recall the specifics, but that context didn't exist
when those conversations and situations happened.
For now, my opinion remains the same, and it *is* an opinion, not a
fact. It's hard for me to believe that anybody could have been
successful cycling at that level at that time without doping, but I
still have not see the evidence proving Lance doped. That evidence may
be piling up behind closed doors, but *so far* there are many plausible
reasons for Lance's accusers to be lying. I remain amazed at the lack of
photos or other forensic evidence of dirty deeds on Lance's part or even
US Postal in general. And no, it doesn't count as evidence that so many
former USPS riders got popped after leaving the team. Not until some of
them come up with photos or bank records or something that points to
doping while they were on the team. That evidence *must* be out there
someplace. Oh, right, the silly motorcycle picture that nobody can
produce.
Magilla, the day may come when you get to tell me "I told you so." But
that day is not here yet.

Your untenable position is starting to make you look like a god damn
fool.
Lance isn't sharp by any measure - he has 4 basic tactics and for the
most part will only find himself in DEEPER and DEEPER shit when he
sits across the table from Novitzky.
1. Outright lies - commits perjury - as the 'foundation' of his
innocence. - Just more fat for the fire when it comes to prison
time.
2. "I don't recall" or "can't remember" - JN will help him remember
with all of the critical and collaborative testimony.
3. Dances around by selective recollection - again JN will help clear
these things up for all.
4. Asks "are we done with this?" - JN will pound away in those areas
until Lance either lies or breaks down.
Your boy is fucked. And I am going to - at the very least - send
Magilla and JN a bottle of vintage champagne the day that "Mellow
Johnny" becomes "Outraged Orange" and trades in a yellow jersey for an
orange jumpsuit.
And just what *is* my "untenable position" anyway? What is it you think
I've said that's so foolish? I've been commenting on the process, on the
lack of physical evidence. Trying to move it away from a he-said
she-said thing. Nobody ever comments regarding the lack of physical
evidence. How are these people so smart that they can cover the physical
tracks so well? How is it that no rider decided, for insurance, to take
some photos or document a financial trail? And maybe some did! In which
case Novitsky might dig it up. But it raises more questions, like why
did it take until now for this to happen?
And then there's Floyd. You guys want to put him up on a pedestal now,
saying see, we were right, Floyd says so! Well Floyd is still making
stories up even know (I documented one of them, regarding his ridiculous
notion about riding inferior bikes, but you probably didn't care because
all you care about is the idea of Lance crashing down).
Open your eyes and watch the process. It's an amazing thing to behold.
The truth is out there, and it won't be pretty. And it might be what you
dream at night, or it could be a variation, or it could blow you away.
Who knows. I'm voting on option #2 myself (making some assumptions about
what you dream & drool over, which doesn't exactly take a shrink to do).

Nice. At least Magilla engages the separate questions.
