Another one, looks like Wiggins is out, Horner's on the ground too.

I didn't see the Horner crash, but he's five minutes back or
something.

RadioShack's gremlins are working overtime.

Yeah and Levi had a mechanical a few minutes after the big crash, if that had
been me I'd have lost it completely, toys could have been hurled a great
distance out of the pram.

He finished 12.41 down, that's gonna take some getting back, I wouldn't be
surprised to see him abandon in the next few days. That was a crash with
consequences.

Levi will not drop out because he is a professional and has
responsibilities to the team and the sponsors. Horner probably will
drop out because he broke his nose. RS needs to make the best of the
TDF to look good to the sponsor.

Radioshack's recent spate of crashes show a surprising lack of
organization or strength. If Lance was still riding this never would
have happened. I can't believe that RS was not protecting it's leaders
better. In the 1995 TDF Indurain was riding slightly off the front to
avoid the crashes. I am even more astonished that Bruyneel did not
take more steps to avoid these crashes. After all we are talking about
one of the best teams in the sport now.

Gee...I wonder why nobody else thought to stay in the front to stay
out of trouble. Or why the other five riders on Radioshack couldn't
form a protective ring around RS' 4 GC hopefuls. Maybe they could
have held hands to keep other riders out. But I see your point.
LANCE's magical aura created a force field around anyone riding on his
team. I wonder if that's allowed under UCI rules? Maybe they changed
the rules since LANCE retired.

No the rules have not changed. My only guess is that the pace was to
fast and RS was not strong enough.

I doubt if Levi thought it was very funny although he looked pretty
tranquillo...like he always does in fact.

And BL has been lurking on rec.witchcraft and alt.binaries.spells when
he's not on alt.binaries.sexy.grandmistresses. He also alleges that
Harry Potter is a doper.

The force field is created by dope developed by the aliens. It needs to
be delivered in a blue cooler box attached to a motorbike.

Uh, 4 hopefuls. Methinks there are too many Chiefs and not enough
Indians. Who is supposed to protect who?

Levi and Horner had the best potential of possibly winning. So they
should have been protected. But it's really up to Bruyneel to decide
which riders are protected. I think that RS will probably go for some
stage wins if possible. At this point I think a podium placing is
unlikely.

The real question what races RS will try for in the summer & fall
season. My guess is that RS will try for a possible win in the Vuelta
or try for a win in the fall classics.

Well RS

Short of circling the wagons around the protected riders for the
entire race, how do you suggest protecting them? No one takes a
nature break, goes back for bidons, no other riders are allowed
anywhere near the protected riders?

Your paradigm needs shifting. Perhaps your cables are too loose.

Go back and look at Indurain in the 1995 TDF and Lance when he was
riding. You will see that they had team mates around them especially
on the flat stages.

Yeah, LA had team mates around him when he fell off twice last year.
