Because it's well known that everything evil with cycling started with
Lance. Well, except for the decades of bad stuff that happened before
him, during his reign that he had nothing to do with, and the stuff
that's going on now. Other than that it's all his fault and he should
be the one made to pay. I thought that was obvious.

You know what the biggest fraud is? You. You are a liar and a
hypocrite, just nobody cares enough to go after you. You took drugs,
had a girlfriend who stole drugs from her hospital, etc., etc. You
failed on innumerable morality tests, yet you pontificate about
cleanliness in sport. Give me a fookin' break already!

I have an idea - why don't you run for office in the US? Let them
start digging in your closet and we'll see what turns up. That should
be good for a few laughs. Glass houses and all that.

I'm saying that with love and affection, so no hard feelings. We're

It's because in the Indurain years, the Tour only went
counterclockwise around France, so speeds went up due to Coriolis
effect in the Northern hemisphere which is also counterclockwise and
so was favorable to the riders.

The direction of the spin induced by the Coriolis effect in either
hemisphere is dependent on whether the flow divergence is positive or
negative (or high pressure center or low pressure center, if you think
strictly in meteorological terms). (I think. Mostly I just make fun of
physical oceanographers, I don't really pay any attention to the things
they talk about.) People say the tour sucks so it must be a huge low
pressure sytem but I think it's so high pressure everyone is taking drugs
to cope. It isn't clear to me whether it should clockwise or
counterclockwise.

in which a mass moves. Your link considers other forces impacting weather,

For a particle or discrete object you are correct,
and FAT is sort of correct if he would explain what
he is thinking (which is sort of like not being correct
at all).

For fluid flow, like the dynamics of a doping investigation
circling the drain, Bill Fred is correct.

Perhaps you could propose an experiment for William Fred involving
firing Lafferty over a distance of a few miles to observe the effect of
Coriolis force on a mass of hot air. That way William Fred is aroused

You can't just fire Lafferty out of a cannon. There are all sorts of
laws governing how you dispose of toxic waste and none of them say it is
legal to fire it out of a cannon, even if it is the name of scientific

That's a formula, not a thought process. Also
it needs a cross product.

The original statement by Bill Fred to which you said
"No it doesn't" was about "the direction of the spin induced
by the Coriolis effect." Spin, not motion of a ballistic
particle - those don't spin (at least, not due to the
Coriolis effect). Atmospheric and oceanic circulations
do spin, and the direction is governed by the Coriolis
effect and the pressure differential - the circulation
spins so that the pressure differential is nearly
balanced by the Coriolis force.

The helpful links provided explain this.

I wouldn't have piped up if you'd just said something
about the effect on artillery shells. But saying
people are wrong, when they are not wrong, is
Lafferty's job, and I need to defend the only thing
he has to live for. Well, other than chess.

Again, you make my point.

When the statement: "The direction of the spin induced by the Coriolis

effect in either
hemisphere is dependent on whether the flow divergence is positive or

negative" Said another way, the Coriolis effect is dependent on flow
divergence. Its not.

To restate what you said: the direction of spin is dependent on the
Coriolis effect and pressure differential. You are correct!! You win the
prize.

The combined forces determine the direction of spin of atmospheric and
oceanic circulations. Only one of which is the Coriolis effect.

Bill Fred said "the direction of the spin induced by the Coriolis

the Coriolis force vector. If he had said the direction of the force
vector, he would have been wrong and you right. But, not so.

If by "legions" you mean "n=<1" and we define "hot" to mean "angry at me

also like to point out that even though I have my own office and not a
