We covered some other bad choices in the TdF route this year,
and I will add another. The biggest mountain top finish is
after a rest day. Days after rest days are notorious for
racers coming out sub-par. This is another bit of randomness
dropped into the TdF by the organizers.

Dumbass,

Not everyone has a bad day after a rest day - some have very good days.

Dumbass -

Those are the guys who are able to go hard on the rest days and keep their
body "awake".

thanks,

Kurgan. presented by Gringioni.

It's not random if it affects everyone. It's sort of like doping not
being cheating if everyone does it.

Check the weather for Lourdes and/or the Col du Tourmalet today. There's far
worse awaiting the riders than soft legs after a rest day. Right now it's
still thundering away; that's what the riders have woken up to, and that's
what they'll be riding in. And apparently, my son and I as well. We didn't
quite come prepared for having to wait on a mountainside for several hours
in cold rain, and don't really have a plan-b. Heading out to the Monoprix to
see what sort of improvised rain gear we can come up with. If we make it,
that descent off the Tourmalet could be... beyond category?
