If Eddy was okay with it, you should be, too.
Besides, what's disgraceful about Eddy riding a borrowed bike in
support of a worthy bike-related charity?
Thank you for sharing the article which I might otherwise have missed.
I found it a small delight.
Turning down waffles-- what a stud. What a guy!

Merckx is a has-been. He was a big fish in a small pond fo cyclists back in the 1960's and
70's. People gawk at him for the same reason they go to church and worship a Sky
Daddy...because their own personal lives are so empty that they try to live vicariously
through others and all sorts of delusions and fantasies.
It's really a form of mental illness to worship heroes...especially sports stars...and
especially guys who doped like Merckx.
Thanks,
Magilla
Look at the photo - it's a disgrace. It would be like seeing Jennifer Aniston on the cover of a
magazine wearing nothing but Depends. In fact, that photo meets the Supreme Court's
requirement for obscenity.
Magilla
fuckin' A. i bet he's actually got a depends on under those parachute
pants.
Lots of people back in Brussels ride bikes like that. Except
for all the gears, you'd get by fine with only 3.

You are sort of like Vivaldi in the sense you don't know when to throw a
mediocre composition away.

A classical music reference - cool.

He's sold a lot of records.
Steve
Ha, he's riding in the rain, how many poseurs and
critics do that on a regular basis?
I liked the article, thanks for posting it.
Eddy seems to be enjoying himself.
Ben
HI! BILLY MAYS HERE! LIKE ALL GREAT RACING CYCLISTS,
EDDY RIDES WHATEVERTHEHELL THEY PAY HIM TO RIDE
& KEEPS A CIVIL TONGUE IN HIS FILTHY FUCKING FRIED-
POTATO-EATING GODDAMNED BELGIAN WHORE HEAD!
I thought the bike pregnant Leontien was riding was much stranger.
However, to paraphrase: "If you ride it, they will come."

My tender sensibilities are also offended.
all you witty motherfuckers miss the point ... a 5-time TdF-winning
mofo ought to know better than to get photographed in such a non-
professional context.
would you EVER see migeul indurain riding such a ridiculous piece of
shit, in long pants, in the rain?
for fuck's sake, people ...
Take note Armdong-o-philes: "I don't think [Contador] is arrogant," he
said. "He wants to win the Tour. They both wanted to win the Tour, and
he was the leader."
Indurain is the guy who bought a Cannondale with his own money.

Come on Ilan, you know that the group here haven't the slightest idea what
the "world" is let alone the "cycling world".
YEEEEEEHAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!
Thanks "Susan".
What is interesting is two things - plainly Lance wasn't up to competing
with Contador at the time. So it isn't difficult to understand that what he
did was either as a team mate or as an intelligent competitor. What happens
in 2010 is going to be interesting though.
I'll update it then. "You're like Guided by Voices in the sense you don't know
when to throw a mediocre composition away."

Caught playing safe
It's a bored game
remove YOUR SHOES to reply, ok?
And he's right, dammit.
"Now I ride approximately 6 or 7 thousand kilometers a year, not 35
thousand like when I was professional," he said. "I ride for fun."
Sweet. He's still copping to what, 150 km/week?
It's nice to see a pro who even in retirement, still enjoys the bike.
Lance too.

you know you photoshopped that Susan. (and who's that fat fuck in the
Trek jersey?)
Even Fair Warning and Women & Children First had some throw-away songs. That
doesn't make Eddy a bad guitarist.

It means that his judgement was poor enough to keep those songs, rather than write
new ones. (Further evidence of his poor judgement, in two words: Sammy Hagar.) He's
capable of much better but thinks that everything he does is good. Sadly, no.
