Rasmussen appeals two-year doping ban to CAS

Lausanne, Switzerland - Cyclist Michael Rasmussen has appealed the two-
year ban he received for doping, the Court of Arbitration for Sport
(CAS) confirmed Tuesday. "The Danish cyclist requests the annulment or
the reduction of the two year suspension which was imposed upon him
last month by the Monegasque Cycling Federation as a result of a
violation of the UCI (International Cycling Union) anti-doping
Regulation," said CAS in a statement.
Rasmussen was kicked out of the 2007 Tour while leading after lying
about his whereabouts in connection with doping tests. He told the ICU
that he was in Mexico when he was actually in Italy and France.
The 34-year-old was subsequently fired by his Rabobank team but won
damages totalling in the region of 1 million dollars after winning a
case in a Dutch court for unfair dismissal.

before last year's Tour is Monaco getting the start of next year's

should walk, wow, that's scary. I take it you've had a few brushes
with the law yourself or have a problem with auhority ?

Maybe a cliche, but common sense too. Anyway you're all mixed up, as a
pro rider he was supposed to be tested, nothing "fascist" about that.

Riders are suppose to give their accurate whereabouts - they waived
their right to privacy. Just like van Impe did. So drop the facist
nonsense.

dodging the issue. the comment wasn't about riders having to give
their whereabouts but rather 'having a problem with authority'.

we cleared that up already. Lucien's long since retired so is not
subject to out of competition testing.

It's true that the Tour would never simply say "Rassmussen is not
allowed to participate". They have never done anything like that in the
past, have they?
You two sound more and more like the two old guys from the Muppet Show.
You had announced urbi et orbi that this Tour was going to suck and that
we would all be missing Contador, Klöden et al., It turns out that this
is not at all what's happening, but you have to keep grumbling and
making snide, inaccurate comments from the sides. Quite silly, frankly.

Perhaps you can quote anywhere that I said that you would miss the real
prospective winners?
And the fact is that Contador plainly demonstrated that he could beat the
best in the world even without training for a grand tour. So I suspect that
this tour is still an asterisk one "Missing the real contenders".
That's not to say that it isn't entertaining - after all, I like women's
racing too despite the fact that a top flight woman pro is about the level
of an American Cat 2 amateur.
