I submit that the average American doesn't even know the Tour is now on,
and most likely think Lance is still chasing the Olson twins through the
Hollywood hills. So where is the Lance speculation, the buzz, there is
none. Is it the economy, as Americans are so strapped, they don't have
time for something as frivolous as a bicycle race?

In the crowd I'm in, cyclists are giving up on racing bikes, and are
going to steel touring bikes, and utility bikes with the most odd ones
I've seen being the "big Dummy" by Surly which is tank like in it's
weight. Even I was oohing and aweing at the incredible weight and load
that something like the "big dummy" can carry. So this could be the
back blast to all those stupid cf racing bikes that have been sold
during the Lance years. I even saw some guy in civilian clothes, with
the bottom of his pants tied down, riding a very expensive Madone on a
commute to his office, and me exclaiming "what a stupid bike." I guess
I've changed like everyone else.
