Should be interesting. Yawn.
Duped (like Levi)
plus, boonen takes his spot in the specialized ads!
I wonder if Johan B.'s got a secret plan to place TWO riders on the
podium. Think about it -- with 2 and a half legit GC threats (George
H.) they can take turns tuckering out the other contenders by going on
alternate attacks. Also, in the event of an injury having a spare GC
contender could make Johan look even more like a genius in retrospect.
Wonder where this puts Tom D in all these plans? I'd guess he's been
relegated to a supporting role for all grand tours.
Don't think so. A "fractured" Tour will quite possibly favor a guy like
Vino, who will seize whatever opportunity exists to do serious damage.
Discovery's best bet is to put everything into one goal, one person, and
make it happen. Keep things clear & simple.

Dumbass,
Magnus Backstedt will win the tour before Hincrapie does. H should put
some weight back on and battle on against Tommy B. in P-R.
TD should be the one looking for a new gig
Simple, practicable, high probability of success, high reward.
I recommend a steel steering tube.

Popo, too.

With all of Levi's "panache" he should have bagged several TDFs by now.
What a Fred!
"TWR: Please tell us about your role on the team. Were you promised a
leadership role at the Tour de France?
LL: Yes, I was. But depending upon who else they sign, it might be a
co-leadership role, which isn't a bad thing. They might sign another
high profile rider before the end of the year and if so, we'll share
the leadership. But there are other races that I target as well that
I'll be the leader for, like the Tour of California, (Tour of )
Georgia, the Dauphine Libere, and the Tour of Germany, which I love as
well. I think I can do well at or win those races."
Sounds like the Basso signing should not have been a big surprise to
Levi.
Well, with Bass on that team I don't think Levi will be a co-leader in
the Tour of France. Basso will be leader and Levi the joker, sort of
like Carlos Sastre was to Basso in the Tour of France last year. Not
equals.

So if Basso is Batman does that make Hincapie Robin ?

Oh, come on. Neither Liepheimer or Hincapie ever had a chance of becoming
Yellow Jersey material. They aren't GC threats and never were. They aren't
points jersey threats, they aren't white jersey threats, and Hincapie at
least isn't a spotty jersey threat. If they really want to make a show at
the Tour the best they can do is compete for a stage win or two, or else
the Lanterne Rouge. Or the 'best water carrier' competition.

dumbass,
leipheimer is not likely a tour winner, but he is a threat for a high
GC position (he's been top 10 three times).
he probably figured with discovery he'd have a shot to go for a
personal best - top 5, podium or whatever.
dumbass,
what is it that you're trying to say ? because they obviously did sign
LL back in july with something in mind, and they knew what his palmares
were back then.

uh, okay... and ?

Well Disco does have 3 potential team leaders and there are 3 grand
tours.
Remember the 2005 Paolo, Lance, Roberto, combo? *
Although,
"The group [at Discovery] is ready to give total support to the Giro
d'Italia-Tour de France double," reassured Basso.
http://www.cyclingnews.com/news.php?id=news/2006/nov06/nov09news2
But since Floyd is also still effectively a free agent, if things are
resolved maybe Discovery could re-sign him too and do something like
the 1-2-4 finish of La Vie Claire in the 1986 TdF.
Has there ever been a 1-2-3 team finish in a grand tour?
DR
* Yeah, yeah, I know
No. If Basso is Batman, Hincapie is Rainman*.
Definitely,
