You know it's shite when it something actually make The Shack's kit
look good in comparison ...
-b-
If they replaced the black bits w/ a dark chocolate brown, it would be
quite stylish and trendy. If they just added a bit of argyle, it
would be da' bomb!
i think it looks good. just maybe too rapha-ish
Well, I'm an advocate of simple kit designs so I'd beg to
differ that it's worse than The Shack's. I like the black
shorts with no colored side panel.
If I were a sponsor I would like how the eye is drawn to
the Sky logo, how easy it is to pick out due to the lack
of competing visual elements.
I will also note that the Sky shorts are more discrete on
rainy days than those of many other teams. This is a flaw
that too many kit designers commit, and if I could slap
them for it you can bet I would.
Bob Schwartz
quik step's 'retro' kit for 2010 also seems to have all black shorts:

i guess only the cool teams got the black shorts memo
Like Sky they feature an uncomplicated design with little
visual competition for the primary sponsor's logo. They've
got a blue side panel on the shorts:

So it isn't entirely retro.

How do they think of these things? They properly make
the shorts black, and then photograph them with grazing
incidence light showing off the team's packages.

The back is white.
maybe they'll switch to all white kit like cervelo once it warms up
You got me there dumbass, So it will only be a problem when it's not
noon on the June solstice and they're racing at the 23.5 N.
If you're over the age of 20, you're not allowed to use "redonkulous"
and "off the hook" in close proximity. I'm pretty sure there's a law
against it.
I am all over this entire team. The black-and-blue kit is very, very
solid. The those-who-know Adidas stripes are a nice accent, too.
Bikes look good, kit looks good, team cars look incredible. This may be
the best-turned-out team since, um, ever? I liked the pale-blue Milram
kit, but this is another great example of less being more.

Chortle. Like an emaciated goon with the shoulders of a budgie. Trying
to do Blue Steel. And failing.
I mean, he's a great rider, and go Canadian Guy, but that photo is one
Liz Hatch away from being on Hot Chicks with Douchebags.
I think it's the lips,
Nor are you allowed to say `close proximity' or 'very unique'.

Keep it up and I'm really gonna hurt you, bro.
The more I see of it the more I think that the sponsors are disappearing.
That (for sure!) and I think some sponsors are ponying up a little
more for exclusive/preferential considerations on the team kits ...
isn't Cervelo like this?

Possibly a very astute insight.

Well, my sense is that Cervelo has a pretty close relationship to its
team, to the point that they pretty much are the team management.
In other words, Cervelo's high profile, high price positioning may have
as much to do (bad-light explanation) with their unplanned failure to
attract substantial sponsorship to help them foot the bill.
The good-light explanation is they always planned it that way.
And also, Rock Racing is Here to Stay.
