If anyone can help me answer some questions about my 1995 Clark Kent F14
that I bought just before the company went chap 11 I'd apprciate it...

What ever happened to the company?
****Whose signature is on my top tube???****
What happened to the frame builders in the company?
If you have a C*K drop me a line about it.
What was so special about their bikes?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thay're defunct--Pat Clark is basically a fugitive from the law, and owes
a lot of people a lot of money. It's a classic example of an innovative
company with many, many good ideas (and a few hairbrained ones, too, to be
perfectly honest) and technically sound products (towards the end, at least!)
flushed down the toilet due to "management problems"--one man with a huge ego.

There were several welders. The two best known are Ivo Vinklarek and Don Herr.
Both of these guys are as good as anyone in the business, IMHO.

>What happened to the frame builders in the company?

One or two of them went to Moots. Don Herr and Steve Soderman (best known for his
outlandishly brilliant paint schemes--on steel frames, of course!) have teemed
up with business entrepreneur Mike Disney to form a new company, Precision
Titanium, in Denver. They purchased the Clark-Kent trademark and all the design
drawings. The frames are still sold under the moniker "Clark-Kent" in Europe,
where the name has a faithful following. US frames so far are being labeled
"Precision," to distinguish them from C-K and the negative connotations that
suggests in some peoples' minds.

These guys are honest players who deserve a chance to turn it into the company
it should be. Best of all, they're working on several radical new frame designs
which will set the market on its ear! The guy doing the designs is very experienced,
and his philosophy is performance and reliability ahead of gimmic and hype--quite
a refreshing change in this business.
