Subject: SOARING & AEROBATIC COURSES

(Please excuse duplicate postings, but we really wanted to get the word out)

I thought some of you might be interested in one of these new
fun/educational opportunities for pilots.

Daniel Webster College (located in Nashua, NH) is now offering two non-
credit courses for pilots.  These courses will be offered during the summer
and will be scheduled to fit the individual student's needs.

One is "An Introduction to Soaring for the Airplane Pilot" which allows
pilots to expand their knowledge, skill, and judgement.  This course is
designed to provide five, one-on-one, personalized, classroom sessions and
optional flight instruction in the Grob 109B motorglider.  Topics include:
principles of flight; glider performance; aircraft control and handling;
micrometeorology; thermal and ridge soaring; and aircraft total energy
management.

The other course is "Aerobatic Safety" which allows pilots to expand their
understanding of aircraft dynamics and control with the goal of improving
their basic flying skills and safety.  This course is designed to provide
five, one-on-one, personalized, classroom sessions and optional flight
instruction in the Cap10B, side-by-side, aerobatic trainer.  Topics include:
flight and maneuvering dynamics; dynamic planning; aircraft energy
management; and exploring the aircraft flight envelope.  The optional flight
portion could include such maneuvers as rolls, inverted flight, stalls,
inverted stalls, loops, hammerheads, safety spins, precision spins, barrel
rolls, and basic aerobatic sequences.
