Here are two HD videos that I made from two flights after the
“regular” season. We are still trying to figure out how to fly the
wave fast…let alone find the wave but we are having a blast. FYI,
electric socks are worth their weight in gold during post season
flying!

It continues to be fun to share flights with friends, family and other
soaring pilots by taking up a cheap video camera and recording the
amazing beauty of soaring so very few of us get to experience.

Tim Taylor has made such a flight several times. Here in a recent OLC track that is close to the flight you describe..

Tim has also flown to Driggs, Idaho and return several times.

One of his flight that I distinctly remember was when Tim left Mackay and flew back home to Logan. He used thermals going across the Snake River Plain and got on the ridge near Pocatello and flew the ridge back to Logan.

Logan is a great place to fly!! (As are Mackay and the King Mountain Glider Park)

Wayne,
Thanks for the links.
We have been able to fly from Salt Lake City to Pocatello, ID with
100% ridge.
Example flights can be found in the 2007 year OLC flights:
October 3rd 2007
Report "Ridge Running in Northern Utah (long)" October 11th 2007 on
this group.

Our current goals include:
1. Flight from Salt Lake City to Pocatello, ID 100% in wave.
2. 1000 k OLC flight with ridge and/or wave
3. 1000 k FAI three point flight with ridge and/or wave
The last two are a matter of when, not if they will be done. As
always it will require patience, the right day and a group of
dedicated pilots.
