After being informed of someone using my name to post hostile postings
on this forum I have sent a complaint concerning this matter to
http://x-privat.org/ which seems to be the source ISP for the forger.
I have no idea if this will do any good but at least it establishes
that the poster Dudley Henriques who wrote THIS post using the message
path available for THIS post is the actual Dudley Henriques.
Hopes this helps with any I.D issues concerning me.
And if anyone reading this is interested in further identification,
please just tell me here and I will be most happy to receive your
personal phone call at my home.
Many thanks and sorry for the Usenet nut cases, but unfortunately a
fact of life these days.

Dudley Henriques asked me via private e-mail if I would explain to readers
how to distinguish his posts from forgers since this is not his area of
expertise.

So to determine whether a post is from DH, you need to be able to check the
post's headers (how you do this depends on your local newsreader - if you
don't know you should learn since it is generally useful.) Look for the all
of the following:

Currently DH is posting from Google Groups, so a post from him should have
the "Path:" header ending in "googlegroups.com!not-for-mail" That
established the service provider the post originated from.

Secondly, the "NNTP-Posting-Host:" header will end in "207.172.126.29"

That's it - short of a forger attempting to use Path pre-loading the above
will establish to a high probability that a post is from DH - anything else
in those two headers but still claiming to be from DH can be considered to
be a forgery.

Don't let it worry you to much Dudley.
After the years you've been posting here we can tell the difference.
The forger will get his comeuppance.

Not so. It would appear that you might not be aware that this
information is readily available to anyone in the world who wants to
see it simply by them viewing the message source information that
accompanies every post made to Usenet. In this case, using Google
Groups for my posting, I can simply click "view original" on any post
and the IP address as well as other pertinent information about the
poster's personal computer foot print can be determined.
Here's the information available on this post for example. This
information can be traced directly to me..Dudley Henriques. Now you
might not know I am Dudley Henriques, but perhaps someone else just
might be able to figure out that ALL the posts bearing quotes
attributed to me that contain hostile and/or idiotic comment are NOT
coming from THIS location :-)
Anyway, here's the message source for this post.

You will note the IP address is in plain sight as is the fact that my
computer is a Mac not a PC like the poster using my name and that I
use Firefox. The beauty of all this should be quite plain to anyone
even remotely interested in who is who on this forum. Unless the
person posting using my name has this exact tracing path, the
"suspect" posts must be coming from somewhere else than from my
computer. Add to this a trace of the IP address to my geographical
location noting the time of posting and the obvious should become
clear as well.

only the more sophisticated ones do header reads.

An update for you hummingbird, trying to explain Usenet to a know-it-all

What's wrong with a Mac? Why you so hysterical 'bout it?

Good machine. Overpriced but still good.

Attention! Most headers can be forged. The hardest to forge are

X-Complaints-To:
NNTP-Posting-Host:

<NNTP-Posting-Host> is often easiest way to check a poster.

<Path> depends on your own location and different users usually see
different path info. Best not post what path info you are seeing.

What about using an application for posting that supports either PGP or
SMIME digital signatures? Key management is something of a minor pain to
set up initially, but that's just the start-up "cost". Once in place, it
provides authentication that is lacking in USENET in general.

It would be great to see the "ecology" (or is "economy" the better
metaphor?) of the rec.aviation groups adopt signing as a norm. I suspect
that it would help calm things down a lot, and let us actually discuss
aviation.

What I find the most damning and hypocritical of you, D00Dz, is that for
years you carried on conversation after conversation with the multiple
trolls MxManiac, Maxwell, Bunyip, etc.

Now, just because your lousy Usenet reputation which is valueless to
begin with has come into play, you are screaming "troll" to the fucking
heavens.

I don't think people would feel like they do if you didn't come running
into the room and shit yourself for no apparent reason at all.

I for one don't feel a bit bad for you either. You're a career Usenet
troll baiter and abuser, put the two together and it's almost morally
wrong to not beat you with a brick every chance we get.

There's nothing worse than a hypocrite other than a washed up one, that
is.
