Actually I have the greatest admiration for the USAAF personnel
who flew in WW2 and make an annual pilgrimage to the American
War Cemetary outside Cambridge to pay my respects on
Remeberance Sunday. I live in an area surrounded by old
USAAF airfields such as Bassingbourn and Stansted as
well as the RAF and RCAF bomber fields.

Trouble is the American ASW aircraft flying out of RAF Reykjavik
were operated by the USN not the USAAF. The USAAF provided
fighter cover and ferried bombers through there to Europe.

The RAF operated Liberators and other ASW aircraft from Reykjavik
throughout the war

The USAAF did a great job in WW2 but in 1942 they were neither
trained nor equipped for maritime attack. The USN was, its really
that simple.

You really should learn what trolling involves, its not disagreeing
with you.
