The two officers point out that Afghan soldiers prefer using terrain
models instead of maps. And thinking about it the Afghans are not the
only people who prefer models.
I can imagine a technological solution. 3D printers should be able to
make models of towns and countryside. Modern maps are stored on both
paper and in computers. It should be possible to convert the contour
lines in the computer data into the layers output by the 3D printers.
Basically a software problem.
