Ed Rasimus (Sad News)

I don't post very much on these forums any more and I'm just passing through long enough to relay some sad news to those few here who might recall this forum from better days.
Ed Rasimus, an old friend, teacher, author, and fighter pilot, as well as a poster to this forum for many years is in Hospice finally losing a long fight with cancer.
I would respectfully ask that those of you who remember Ed and indeed those of you who don't, remember him in your prayers today.

about him, (for me) it's hard to put it in words that don't sound like he's
already gone.


We need more Eds in this world, not less. As I'm an atheist, I can't
offer any prayers for him, but he certainly has my respect, thoughts and
best wishes.

Dear Dudley,
It is indeed sad news, and thank you for relaying it to the group. I will keep Ed in my prayers, along with several other veterans who are not doing so well these days (from WW2, Western Desert, both German and South African). A life such as Ed's deserves celebration, and I hope he can take some comfort in knowing how he touched so many through his interaction on this group.

Very sad news indeed Dudley.

We can hope he has one of those superduper barrel rolls,
(the actual name of which eludes me at the moment) from
his book, used to escape a MiG, left in him yet.

I have very much missed reading his posts here after his
departure from this group. He has produced a fine record
of technical and historical detail of the Vietnam air war
and I remember his patience and kindness in sharing them
with members of this group.

My best wishes are with him at this difficult time.

Long time without checking rec.aviation.military and I didn't know Ed Rasimus had passed away. Very sorry to read about it. One of those guys that made rec.aviation.military being worth following. I rarely post something, but I used to read a lot and learned quite many things from his posts.

Guess it's still not too late to say R.I.P., Ed, and thank you for all the lessons. :(
