It seems a bit of a stretch, given that Portugal has been a member of NATO
for yonks. Perhaps it is a ploy by the Portuguese to get more money to help
them deal with their debt.

Gordon G Chang's predictions on China have been spectacularly
wrong to date. In 2001 he was preduicting the imminent collapse
of the Chinese economy.
