I would assume that the newsgroups they should be in are so crowded
with other whackos that they must find a relatively empty one to rail
in.

I may be way off base on this subject; however, every since Google got into
the news group interface business the misuse has expanded. Google seems to
do nothing when offenders using their interface are identified. This is not
true with other provides such as supernews.com, etc. It seems that only the
bombardment of Google ads is important to Google.com and not the relevancies
of news group content.
