Unfortunately there is no way to do so. Some folks say that's
a failure in the design of Usenet, and some folks say it's a
feature.

Actually, the problem is that 99.9% of Usenet servers will
ignore any attempt to rescind or cancel a post. The flaw in
Usenet's design is that there's nothing to show a request to
cancel a post came from the author of the post. So rather
than let anyone cancel anyone else's post (which happened in
the early days of Usenet) servers just don't allow cancels
at all.
