Does anyone know what's going on with Eliot Sadler and RCR? The
decision for him to leave apparently was his and not RCR's and RCR
apparently doesn't know why he won't be back. They sounded pretty
pissed at him over it during the NNS race Saturday when they
instructed his teammate NOT to help him in any way!

He ended up there because RCR took over Harvick's operation of course,
but I haven't been able to find anyone yet who seems to know why he
chose to leave them. Given his history of having to go from Cup back
to NNS, I would think his interests would best be served by his
keeping as many options for rides open as possible, both in NNS and in
Cup. Getting RCR pissed off without anyone even knowing why doesn't
seem to fill that bill.

Just guessing here, but...

As I understand things, RCR had not yet made an offer to Sadler,
and Elliot took that as an indication to start looking around.

It's clear the long-term plan at RCR is first Austin Dillon and
then Ty Dillon as NNS champions and then to Cup rides. So
Sadler's role at RCR would always be as a support player.

More to the point, Sadler beleives he's a Cup quality driver.
RCR obviously does not beleive that, so there's no chance for
Sadler to move back up to Cup with RCR.

So Sadler's looking for a team that will give him a shot at a
Cup ride. Rumor of the moment is it'll be Gibbs, who don't
want any of their 3 Cup drivers to run much in NNS, and do
have an NNS team without a driver now Logano has left. So
Gibbs could offer a full-time NNS ride with Cup events as and
when sponsorship allows.

Whether Gibbs would be interested in Sadler, as opposed to
taking a young guy out of NNS who has future Cup potential is
a different question.

Once he learns how to take care of his car, maybe.

If we could make it a figure-eight it would be perfect

Ya know I wonder... If he's in a POS for that race does he just dog it
or just try to drive the wheels off it?
