On August 13, 1998 a second nascar-related USENET newsgroup (this group)
was voted into existence:
rec.autos.sport.nascar.moderat ed, or "rasnm". The charter for this USENET newsgroup was stated in the CFV as follows:

Getting Started Posting on rec.autos.sport.nascar.moderat ed

The registration process outlined in the charter for new posters wanting to get started posting to rec.autos.sport.nascar.moderat ed has been eliminated.
Now, instead of having to register an agreement to abide by the charter, new posters simply have to post an article like they would to any other USENET... more »

several racing-related groups - one of which was rec.autos.sport.nascar, or

Schedule reduction

Not that I ever cared a great deal about what he's said, but Rusty Wallace is
being quoted now as saying the schedule should be cut back from the current 36
to 32 races.
Assume it was your job to make that cut. How would you do it?
If it were me, the two road races would be the first ones on the chopping block.... more »

2013 HOF class

No real qualms about the 2013 Hall of Fame class, but I think it's clearly time
to change the selection process.
The point was stressed repeatedly by several different people that there were
no locks in this year's class. All the "locks"--Petty, Pearson, Earnhardt, Allison, Yarborough, Waltrip, France etc.--are in now.... more »
