Description: NASCAR and Stockcar Racing. (Moderated)

r.a.s.n.m FAQ -- Section 6 - All About rasnm
6.1 - Why is rasnm moderated? Even though all Big 8 Usenet newsgroups have a Charter, in an unmoderated newsgroup there is no way to ensure that posts to the newsgroup abide by the Charter. Everyone is on the "honor system". Unfortunately, that oftentimes results in a newsgroup becoming a dumping ground for spam,... more »

Charter for rec.autos.sport.nascar.moderat ed
On August 13, 1998 a second nascar-related USENET newsgroup (this group) was voted into existence: rec.autos.sport.nascar.moderat ed, or "rasnm". The charter for this USENET newsgroup was stated in the CFV as follows: ============================== ============================== ================... more »

Getting Started Posting on rec.autos.sport.nascar.moderat ed
The registration process outlined in the charter for new posters wanting to get started posting to rec.autos.sport.nascar.moderat ed has been eliminated. Now, instead of having to register an agreement to abide by the charter, new posters simply have to post an article like they would to any other USENET... more »

Rationale for rec.autos.sport.nascar.moderat ed
On April 1, 1994, the USENET newsgroup rec.autos.sport was divided into several racing-related groups - one of which was rec.autos.sport.nascar, or "rasn" as it became known to it's participants. On August 13, 1998 a second nascar-related USENET newsgroup (this group) was voted into existence:... more »

Hey Paxton....
Were you aware of this one? I know you are a fan... thought I'd pass it along in case you didn't hear about it.. [link] -- Dan A hungry termite walks into a bar and asks, "Is the bar tender here?"

Schedule reduction
Not that I ever cared a great deal about what he's said, but Rusty Wallace is being quoted now as saying the schedule should be cut back from the current 36 to 32 races. Assume it was your job to make that cut. How would you do it? If it were me, the two road races would be the first ones on the chopping block.... more »

[META] About Selling Tickets on RASNM
The charter of r.a.s.n.m, which we have all agreed to follow, prohibits "Commercial or Money-Making Posts": 4) Commercial and Money-Making Posts are defined as posts whose primary purpose is to solicit a benefit for the poster. This would include, but is not limited to, advertisements of businesses, direct advertisements of goods... more »

2013 HOF class
No real qualms about the 2013 Hall of Fame class, but I think it's clearly time to change the selection process. The point was stressed repeatedly by several different people that there were no locks in this year's class. All the "locks"--Petty, Pearson, Earnhardt, Allison, Yarborough, Waltrip, France etc.--are in now.... more »
