Not one of their better ones. LLOOOONNNGGG green flag run at the beginning. That resulted in a bunch of cars getting lapped before the first caution.

Even with a G-W-C finish, it wasn't all that close at the line.

The most excitement came after the race when Kurt Busch dinged Newman and their crews had a little "discussion" afterwards.

Finch ought to fire Kurt Busch. Good grief, they're desperately looking for sponsorship and he's got the biggest a$$hole ever to occupy the seat of a Cup car as his driver. What self-respecting sponsor would want Kurt Busch representing the company?

I'd agree that it wasn't one of the better Darlington races,
but it was pretty good none the less. I have no problem with
the long green stretch, it was nice to have a break from the
artificial debris cautions (has NASCAR finally learned?), and
Darlington is a difficult track for green flag stops, so it
put a premium on the driver's skills.

What makes you think Finch is "desperately seeking sponsorship"?
He's run the team for 20-odd years with Phoenix Construction
on the side (i.e. out of his own pocket as a hobby), why would
he be desperate to change now?

Perhaps "desperately" was too strong a word. However, there have been numerous
references in both the print and broadcast media to the blank quarter panels and the fact that the team is indeed seeking sponsorship.

I'll acknowledge that having Kurt Busch as his driver helps Finch get some TV
time. A championship winning driver driving for a small, underfunded team is
a story in itself, and he's a pretty good wheel man. He'll keep the car as
close to the front as it's capable of running.

However, I just can't see a major sponsor wanting all the baggage that comes
with him. He's on the list of the ten most disliked athletes in all of sports,
not just NASCAR--all of sports. And he's there for a reason.

be happy if sponsorship appeared, and if it didn't he'd be
equally content to just run fewer races, whatever his own funds
allowed.

Busch, on the other hand, probably does desperately hope Finch
finds sponsorship, so that he's guaranteed of running the whole
season and perhaps the team can step up it's performance a bit.

And definately the type of sponsor that would work for Busch
is a smallish list - a company that wanted to project a macho
independant doesn't give a d*mn about anyone attitude would
work, but with the disappearance of the Marlboro Man there
aren't all that many like that.
