Yeah, me too. I have been an archetypal Olympics cynic, but watching that
ceremony, I found some of the cynicism slipping away. He did a really good
job of portraying Britain through the ages, and of celebrating the ordinary
working men and women of this country rather than just the elites.
Before they mentioned it on the commentary, I was contrasting the precision
of the Beijing ceremony with the organised chaos of this one, and felt that
that suited Britain so much better.
I didn't really get why in the opening bit, he illustrated each of the home
nations with a Rugby moment. That seemed really out of place.
