I've only been watching 10 mins and I really mis Crofty and Ant right
now.

The pair seem to lack confidence. It was blindingly obvious that Glock's
front wing had parted company before the (slight) impact with the tyre
wall, but neither dared venture an opinion until they saw a replay.

I didn't see that practice. Is it possible neither were watching the monitor
at the time, there's a lot going on during practice sessions with them going to
the pair in the pits quite frequently.

Yebbut - at the time the cameras lingered for quite a long time on the
car up against the barrier, with the wing about 60 metres back. There
were clear marks on the gravel where the car had bounced, plus a few
leading to the wing. Each followed a different (divergent) trajectory
leading from roughly the same point near the trackside.

You are being very kind to them. :-)

But it wasn't obvious that something hadn't happened off-camera, e.g. a
spin or hitting a kerb (both actually more likely than a wing
spontaneously detaching itself.)

A spin whilst travelling in a straight line? (He went off to the left
whilst braking for a right hand turn.)

It was pretty damn clear he hadn't had any contact with a barrier which
was the only suggestion they managed.

I wasn't defending them, I was just pointing out that without the
footage we couldn't be sure what had actually happened. What seems to
have happened is that only the connectors on one side of the nosecone
actually, er, connected. Which makes it remarkable that he got as far as
he did.
