There was a component that was behaving in an unexpected way - it
wasn't 'broken', but it wasn't doing the job it was designed for.

Twitter feed issue ?

LH said that during the race something had gone bang on his car and the
handling had improved.

Once again, McLaren are throwing the championship down the crapper.

I would be surprised not to see more of that in following races.

Reminds me of an acquaintance whose 7-litre hot-rod at Santa Pod, a
160-mph performer, usually ran squirrelly, until one day it suddenly
went straight. They found a motor mount had broken. They fixed it,
and the car went squirrelly all over again! A broken component can
help. http://oldstox.com/images/BT%27s/BTPure%20Seven-1.jpg

Yeah, the component was a "Lewis"...

If it was a iffy part then fine, but I was quite happy with the idea
that he was just a bit mentally knackered after the Merc move stuff.
Fair enough I thought. He is after all going to have a bit of a "fun"
time in that McLaren will be getting reluctant to share latest
development info with him, and gradually shutting him out. That's going
to be tough to deal with, for both him and the team.

I hope he can fully go for it for the end of the season, but if he does
kinda drop back, Im not going to judge him, or the team, badly. I almost
expect it as reasonable.

Shame in many ways that these days such things cant be kept quiet, or
left to the off season.
