I laughed. Is this a joke? Man - you are horrible. You're scared of the car. You can't hold a line to save your life. You ran off the road a bunch of times. This looks worse than the first one you posted.
I think it's a joke. Or a troll. Whatever it is, it worked, it's a scream.
Jeez, what a bunch of butcher critics! If FDK had identified himself
as a professional F3 driver, maybe some points could be made. Before I
judge this drive I'd want to know about the driver's racing
experience.
Far better than I would have done. coming at it today as I am.
Personally I'd have lifted just a tad every time I hit the rumbles.

That's one thing I don't do. There's lots I don't do well yet, but keeping my foot in it even on the rumble strips isn't a problem for me.

LOL
I'd say an improvement from around 1:52 to around 1:40 would be pretty good, Michael (even if a portion of that could be attributed to using a higher rev limit).
Another course: another course where I was never passed except by the instructors (who you'd have to agree are likely to be pretty good given that they have to be able to run with students of all abilities who might occasionally do the wrong thing at the wrong time).
How much faster do you think you could go, Michael?

Yeah - you’re a legend.

Michael? I thought it was "Edwin" this week.
Hmmmm... "how much"? - how would I know - but faster. What I do know is; the soccer mom down my street could best anything you could do without breathing hard. You are a natural born loser.

Nope. Nothing nearly so grandiose. I'm simply reporting the facts.
Just as it's a fact that one of the drivers who couldn't pass me was Bryan Herta's son, who's only been racing for 6 years. He was more comfortable running close up behind the instructor for the passing exercises, I'll give him that!
Just as it's a fact that my two on-track instructors agreed that I could actually have beaten one of the instructors they don't use for on-track work... ...because he's not fast enough.

Alan, I think you are a brave man for posting what you have done. Be properly proud of what you have tried, and learned, and accomplished so far.
It certainly appears, that others (including me) are not so brave. Nor are some, very well mannered!

That's alright, Lee.
The joke was on him. The lap he said showed how "horrible" and "scared" I was is that of my instructor, Thomas Merrill: F2000 champion and rookie of the year a few years back, plus 24 Hours of Daytona driver.
I played him like the huge jackass he is.
:-D
I'll post my real videos shortly.

Sorry for letting Michael Patelmo's disease infect this group, but if I wanted to pull of the joke (the video is not mine, but that of an instructor, and I knew Michael would ridicule it and make himself look like an ass), I had to post it as I'd posted my videos previously.

Well, at one point a little too big.
It's not caught on video, but in my very last session, I pushed too hard coming out of turn 4, put two wheels in the dirt, and then spun it into the wall on the inside. A very expensive but ultimately useful lesson.

Just looking at the first video, it looked to me like you were having a little bit of trouble judging your steering input for turn-ins. This would make me ask how the car felt to you -- was it well-balanced and neutral, or a tiny bit twitchy with oversteer?
It's great that you're enjoying the open-wheeler. I can tell you, from my limited experience, that going to slicks is a huge step up in both challenge and enjoyment -- something to look forward to.
And for all the critics, success at lower speeds, whether autocross or lower formulas, is never an accurate predictor of success at any faster formula. At some level of time compression, either you have the innate ability, or you don't. Open and shut.
For myself, I ran out of ability (or balls, if you prefer) trying to move up from FF on slicks. But I was older, and I'm glad I had the experience.

I think I should let you in on the gag:
I posted that first video of my instructor to allow a couple of trolls the rope to hang themselves (and one in particular didn't disappoint!).
That is Thomas Merrill--F2000 rookie of the year and second in the championship, as well as 24 Hours of Daytona driver, doing a 1:40 on road tires when the best time I could find on slicks was a 1:38. So I think one would expect that he was doing it alright.
But in truth, to me, my car felt very neutral. Certainly, getting the car to rotate on corner entry only required a little bit of trail braking and adding power on exit didn't make it push.
Check out my other thread for my real laps.
