Safety in F1: lessons from Montreal

The fact that Robert Kubica survived that horrible
accident--with remarkably little injury at that--shows
that the push for safety in F1 has resulted in some
truly amazing results. Thanks to Sir Jackie Stewart
and the other F1 leaders who understood that racing
could be SAFE and still be EXCITING, today's drivers
are in less danger of personal injury than ever.

However, Ant Davidson's unfortunate experience at
Montreal shows that, despite the safety advances made
for drivers, F1's beavers, woodchucks, and other
trackside animals, still participate in F1 only at
risk of injury and death.

Obviously, it is time for Bernie Ecclestone, Max
Mosley, and the entire FIA structure, to address,
seriously and comprehensively, the issue of
beaver safety in F1. Strict new rules must be
drafted, new beaver safety equipment must be
devised, tested, and approved, and beaver safety
compliance must be assured by the strictest level
of scrutineering available.

The time is NOW for beaver safety in F1. Let's all
support this important issue.
