They hired 2 experienced drivers instead of resorting to those who will
bring money and drive for free. A better combination than I expected any of
the new teams had the ability to attract, let alone hire, a few months back.

Trulli and Kovalainen didn't have a lot of options. When Toyota
announced that they were pulling out then what you DIDN'T see was F1
teams queuing up to sign Trulli. So Lotus may have got them at a knock-
down price.
Lotus look to be better funded than the other new teams, so they could
probably afford to hire non-paying drivers. They've been smart I think
because what they have hired is experience. Trulli and Kovi are under-
achievers, but they do have experience and that might be a good thing
for a new team to have.

If I ran one of the existing teams I would have passed them up too. Well I
still have a little faith in Heikki, but basically I agree.
They still both had 3 or 4 choices though I suspect.
