Guess you elected not to score my slightly tardy, hurricane delayed,
Friday night entry.

The default (if I don't intervene) is to discount late entries.

If no-one objects, I'm happy to mark as valid.

Well, this is F1 (ish), so if it puts him above me, then I object. If he
beats me at the end with those lost points, I really object!!!!!

Like I say, this is F1 related and self interest rules, must be consistent.

Now, I would like to put a smiley in and make out its all jokes, and I
started out like that, but as I type part of me is getting all
competitive. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Mark, you decide, and I'll lynch you if it goes wrong!!! :) There,
smiley!!!

Just for the sake of clarity, etc....

I have not taken any note of how you compare to me, and frankly my
position in the pool suggests Im luckier than Vettel. Its not like I've
been putting some great analytical brain to over use, its pure guess
work. So, TBH, I don't mind if you get your points. Your reason is fair
enough.

I suppose the main thing is some sort of consistency. I cant remember,
but were there Aussies (for example) who missed dead lines because of
their local disasters? Did they get their late entries allowed? Were
there other similar cases? IMHO, fairness dictates that we follow what
ever decision was taken then, which I hope were consistent.

Anyway, given that this is supposed to be fun and nothing else, I think
we should accept reasonable exceptions.

Yeah, that would be annoying!!!!

Always worth confirming our gratitude for this pool. It really does add
to the race weekend. The work that goes in to it is very much appreciated.

Which is pretty much what I've done this year (after getting the OK here in
the group - for all to see - from Mark). Therefore I think that, if anyone's
missed a race prediction and *doesn't* have a default set up then they only
have themselves to blame.

I object. Making an exception is a really bad idea.

I object, if only fairness to others. Force majeure should not be
allowed, short of a posting being successful but shown on a different
USENET news server.

I beleive that's what default entries are for.

You were given plenty of warning about Sandy and the race. I guess if
you will make not drowning a priority that is your choice. ;)

I'm not in the comp so have a neutral opinion (and I'm not a fan of News as you may know) but if he is south of Massachusetts and near the coast, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt after all a look back shows it was pre-qually and even folk in Massachusetts rather distracted by Sandy.

The precedent has already been set prior to this, so I'd say, in
fairness to others who have not been allowed to have late entries
allowed, that you don't count this.

Harsh, but fair.

I like the idea of a default entry, or better, unless an entry has been
submitted, you count the latest entry as valid.

Could be a rule for next year.
