Hi folks,

I'm having a problem "winning" the invitational event Veyrons @
Nordschleife in NFS shift on medium difficulty. Whenever I win the
event, the screen goes black after the driver profile points, there's
a ton of disk activity until the "problem report" thingy comes up.

A non-podium finish works fine (I guess), but I'd like to rake in the
extra stars for a win.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? I think it may be with NFS's
replay system as I think I had a similar crash when the replay of an
event was about to start.

I have the no/cd, real mod 2.0 and the "fairground removal" patch installed.

Thanks in advance for any ideas,

Uwe

Messed up files on your computer would be my bet. I would try running
scandisk and automatically fixing errors then uninstalling Shift
completely (leaving your player files if possible - they're obviously not
relevant here), rebooting, installing Shift again and rebooting one last
time after that.

Think about it: something special happens when you win, so different files
would be used.

Thanks for the hint, thing is the crashes happened before I installed
any patches or the no/cd executable. 8-(

Also, winning other events is no problem, it's just the Veyron (sp?) /
Nordschleife invitational event that seems to be causing problems.

Is it possible to keep 2 nfs installs alongside each other to verify
the problem like rFactor allows you to do?

All the best,

Uwe

I've wondered about this. So far I haven't installed any mods because... well,
because I still enjoy the un-modded version and am a little concerned about what
might happen when an official patch is released.

I haven't had any crashes at all though, in the Veyron Challenge or anywhere else,
so I can't offer any advice, sorry. In your position I'd be tempted to reinstall
(after saving your driver files, obviously :-)

PS You might find some useful info on the nogrip forum. That seems to be the most
active place I've found where Shift is discussed by the 'serious' simming community

Thanks as usual, Andy. I'll check out their forums then.

All the best,
