Car rental in DC: Any good deals?

Hi!

I'm going to be in the Washington DC/Virginia area
for 10 days starting this Saturday and I am
planning to rent a car. I phoned a couple of rental
agencies and found the rates to be appalingly high!
Being an indigent grad student, I am looking for pointers
to a good deal on a car rental from Washington Natl Airport.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Your best bet (if you can do this) is to not even rent a car. If you're staying
right in DC or close-in Virginia you can ride the DC Metro, and ride it from
National airport. All the rental agencies are pretty high in DC. Also, parking is
a pain in the city. If you're staying farther out, it's gonna cost you...
